Hackathon “Sustainable Solutions for Ukraine”
On 19 February 2026, Chernihiv Polytechnic National University hosted an innovative hackathon entitled “Sustainable Solutions for Ukraine”. The main goal of the hackathon was to strengthen the integration of sustainable development values in the educational and public sectors. The event was held as part of the international ERASMUS+ KA2 CBHE project SUSTED “Education for Sustainable Development: Synergy of Competences for the Recovery of Ukraine” and brought together higher education students, scientific and pedagogical staff of Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, as well as representatives of public organizations (Eco City, YODA).
The hackathon format involved dynamic, practice-oriented work by participants in micro groups. The teams worked on solutions related to the sustainable recovery of the country and the implementation of sustainable development principles. In particular, they analyzed problematic situations and identified their root causes; formulated strategic actions to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); generated ideas for innovative projects; developed prototypes of solutions and models for their practical implementation; presented the results of their work and received feedback.
A distinctive feature of the hackathon was the atmosphere of creativity and rapid development of ideas aimed at achieving the SDGs, which contributed to the development of project thinking, entrepreneurial approach, interdisciplinary interaction and the acquisition of competencies in the field of sustainable development. The involvement of representatives from the education sector and civil society organizations ensured a diversity of expert views and practical experience. This enabled participants not only to identify key areas for sustainable recovery, but also to develop concepts for innovative initiatives with the potential to be implemented at the level of Chernihiv, the region and the state as a whole.
Event is carried out within the framework of the ERASMUS+ SUSTED project “Education for sustainable development: synergy of competences for the recovery of Ukraine” (Project number: 101178414).
