On June 5, 2026, on World Environment Day, Chernihiv Polytechnic National University hosted a workshop titled «Ecosystem of Cooperation: Education, Business, and Government on the Path to Sustainable Development», organized as part of the Erasmus+ KA2 SUSTED project «Education for Sustainable Development: Synergy of Competencies for Ukraine’s Recovery».
The event brought together over 100 participants—representatives from higher education institutions, state and local government bodies, the business sector, the civil society sector, and international partners. The main goal of the workshop was to create a platform for matchmaking, networking, and aligning the interests of various stakeholder groups in order to develop comprehensive and balanced educational materials aimed at equipping higher education students with up-to-date knowledge and practical skills in the field of sustainable development management.
The case study approach served as the workshop’s core methodology. The event’s methodology involved an exchange of practical experience among experts from various sectors, who shared best practices, tools, achievements, and challenges related to implementing sustainable development principles and conducting sustainability training within their organizations. Representatives from Ukrainian and foreign higher education institutions, the business sector, local government agencies, and civil society organizations participated in the work of the two expert panels (Panel 1: «The Education–Business–Government Partnership as the Foundation for Building Competencies in Sustainable Development»; Panel 2: «From the Classroom to Real-World Projects: How Cross-Sectoral Collaboration Works»).
An important component of the workshop was the participants’ practical work in small groups. Facilitated by the organizers, representatives from various sectors discussed current challenges in sustainable development, developed proposals for strengthening cooperation between the education sector, the business community, and the government, and presented the results of their work during a plenary discussion.
Following the workshop, participants highlighted the significant value of cross-sectoral knowledge sharing, the practical focus of the case studies presented, and the importance of developing partnership ecosystems to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The closing discussion and networking session served as a platform for establishing new professional connections, generating ideas, and planning future joint initiatives.
