The Hague University of Applied Science (THUAS) is based in The Hague, the city of Peace and Justice. The institution offers circa 65 professional bachelor and master programmes, most of which are delivered in Dutch, with some programmes in English. THUAS has almost 25,000 students from more than 125 different countries.
All degree programmes at THUAS are assessed for quality by a panel of external experts appointed by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders.
THUAS published over the last year a new strategy plan (till 2028), a new knowledge agenda and educational policy. In it, sustainability is the red thread throughout all topics. At THUAS we are currently further professionalizing our Green Office, meant to be fully structured within our organization with the goal to empower both students and staff to work on our Sustainability Action Plan. In order for THUAS to do this, university seeks partners within and outside existing national and international networks to learn from and share best practices with. Specifically, with The Hague Network – consisting of 7 European universities and UAS – the university works on the GreenComp model and how it can be implemented in educational modules.
THUAS as a university where internationalization is at the core of the strategy. This can be seen in its diverse student body and a broad range of teachers and researchers from all over the world.
THUAS aims to internationalise all its programmes through internationalisation at home so that the benefits reach beyond a narrow minority of mobile students. When it comes to Ukraine, THUAS has been fully supporting students and staff at Ukrainian wherever they could and seeking collaboration with Ukrainian universities, e.g. through the project SUSTED.
THUAS also delivered training for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) to Ukrainian academics, together with Cormack Consultancy Group.
